How are Strategy Games Different From Regular Games?

December 8, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Out of all the genres of video games, strategy games are perhaps the most unique. This type of game is different from the other categories because it relies heavily on the player’s analytical skills. While action games involve playing a video game character that goes through levels killing enemies, beating bosses and acquiring new abilities, strategy games, popularly known as strateske igre in Croatian, entail using strategy and tactics to defeat the opponent. Many of these games revolve around the theme of luck and outcome. The more thought-out the moves, the more successful the player will be in the game.

Traditional games usually have one or more players who work together to complete levels, collect items and defeat bad guys but strateske igre tend to be between two players. A gamer can play against a friend or against the computer. In turn based strateske igre it is up to the player to use a limited number of moves to beat the opponent. Taking turns in this way allows the player to analyze the movements and strategy of the opponent. There are also strategy games that involve role play. Military and war themed games are among the most popular because they put the player in charge of troops and involve planning attacks and placing their men at strategic points within the game.

While you can purchase strategy games at the video game store you can also play them online, and oftentimes for free. You can try a variety of strategy games until you find the one that you like best. There are websites that list the latest games available so you can keep up to date.
